Freemasonry at its best.

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The Worshipful Masters from Bucknaw Lodge 194 and Broughshane Lodge 246 have been handing over cheques from the proceeds of the very successful “Giro De Bucknaw III”.  This is the third year of the event which was started by the then WB Uel McCullough and WB Clifford Gay of the respective lodges to purchase a defibrillator for the villages of Broughshane and Glenarm.

This year the weather was wonderful and the crowd was more than supportive on the journey. A small reception was held in the Carnlough hall home of Lodge 216. In all everyone had an eventful day and went home suitably labored and refreshed.

An amazing £4,500 was raised by all involved and the following organizations benefited from the donations as follows: – £2,100 to the Bridgewater Suite Haematology Unit at the City Hospital; £1,100 to The Brook Dementia Care Fold in Coleraine; £500 to the Ballymena Bears special needs tag rugby team; £500 to the Cancer Fund For Children plus and a joint donation of £300 with Carnlough Lodge 216 to the local Integrated Primary School for new books.

Following on from the summer’s events an educational evening was held in November at Broughshane Lodge and a further £300 was raised along with the Brethren of Bucknaw’s calendar fundraiser. This money has since been donated to three local schools, Kirkinriola Primary, Ballykeel Nursery and Ballymena Primary to help them purchase equipment.

In all a very eventful year for the two Worshipful Masters who would like to thank all those who helped or donated in any way.
